Starfield’s Console Frame Rate Will be Communicated Ahead of Launch, Xbox Boss Assures

Microsoft and Bethesda have had a bruising week following the disastrous launch of Redfall, with Arkane Austin’s open world first person shooter having been roundly criticized by critics and audiences alike for its bevy of issues across all facets. The companies will doubtless have taken several lessons from the entire ordeal- including, for instance, clear communication prior to launch regarding crucial performance-related details. That Redfall will not have a 60 FPS mode at launch was announced not long before its release, with the assumption until that time having been that that would not be the case. With the upcoming Starfield, however, Microsoft will be communicating things much more clearly. In a recent interview with Kinda Funny Games, when asked about whether or not the company will explicitly confirm the sci-fi RPG’s performance targets on Xbox Series X/S ahead of its release later this year, Xbox boss Phil Spencer confirmed that it will. In the same interview, Spencer stated that Microsoft had done a better job of assisting Starfield’s development following its acquisition of Bethesda than it did with Redfall. Read more on that through here. Microsoft and Bethesda will be unveiling plenty of new details on the game in the Starfield Direct scheduled for June 11, so hopefully that’s where we’ll here about its console frame rates as well. Starfield is due out on September 6 for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
