Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has received several new details as of late, from previews and gameplay to Photo Mode confirmed for launch. In issue #161 of Game Informer, Massive Entertainment also revealed that co-op would support drop-in/drop-out features and shared progression.
This means that both players will retain their character progress when playing in co-op. However, story progress depends on both players being in the same mission. If you play with someone who has reached a later mission, you won’t be able to access it, which is similar to what Destiny does. It’s an improvement from other titles, like the recently released Redfall, which only saves progress for the host.
Players can also trade gear in Avatar, so if you have any extra loot, it can be gifted to another player to boost their power, similar to Tom Clancy’s The Division. There will likely be level requirements, but it’s also beneficial for those seeking well-rolled loot or gear pieces.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora launches on December 7th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC.
